Ripe Apples

Originally thought of as a small add on to the regular show, Ripe Apples is a one of a kind, new show, and it’s all about reviews. What does it take for a movie to be great? How should a movie be scored and graded? Honestly, we don’t know (we literally have no idea and are still arguing about it among ourselves), but we are doing great and having fun along the way as we craft our movie reviewing skills to hopefully, one day, become experts in the industry.

Ripe Apples was just a joke that Chris and I made to each other one evening when thinking of ideas for the podcast. Who doesn’t want to hear what we have to say about movies, right? And to top it off, why not add Grant Wood and Alex Miller to the show, creating an even more diverse and fun atmosphere.

Every weekend, we get together and watch a movie, completely on our own. With our own grading standards (and much subjectivity), we all grade the movies and give them a final score out of 10. But Ripe Apples goes beyond just movies. We have thoughts and opinions about many people, places and things, which all need to be shared with the world.

Whether it be a city, state or country, a celebrity or professional athlete, or a product that we all know and use, the boys, towards the end of each episode, will converse and give you their opinions of the matter. As for now, only movies and TV shows will be rated, geographical areas might get ratings in the future, too. Who knows!

As for the movie ratings, here is how they work. After we all give our scores out of 10, we average them to see how ripe the movie really is. Anything 6 and above, we believe, qualifies as a good movie. If the movie gets at least a 7, we recommend that you should watch it. 8 and above? That means this movie is a must see, and if the final score lies withing the 9s, well why haven’t you already seen the movie?

Just as we recommend seeing the films that received ripe scores, if a movie is terrible enough, 2 or below, we might recommend that as well just so our listeners can see just how awful these movies really are.

If you’ve seen the movie or not, we believe Ripe Apples is a great listen, and a great way to get you past the middle of the week. Episodes air every Wednesday morning, and we know that you don’t want to miss them!
